A Missouri Highway Patrol supervisor was found shot to death outside his home Sunday afternoon about four miles north of Van Buren, Mo., a patrol spokesman said.
The trooper, Sgt. Carl Dewayne Graham, 37, was a 12-year veteran of the patrol and a zone supervisor for Carter and Reynolds counties,
said Sgt. Marty Elmore of Troop G.
A passer-by found the trooper outside his home about 5:15 p.m., Elmore said. Graham worked the day shift and was still in uniform when he was found.
Graham, who was divorced, had a 4-year-old son.
The patrol had no suspects Sunday night. Its drug and crime control unit was investigating the death.

(KSDK) -- Last November, Sergeant Dewayne Graham investigated a fatal accident in Carter County, Missouri.
Wednesday, Troopers arrested a man who is now charged with leaving the scene of that crash.
Troopers say while investigating Sergeant Graham's murder, they uncovered new information about the fatal accident.
28 year-old Lance Shockley of Van Buren was taken into custody without incident at his job in Maulden, Missouri.
Investigators stopped short of calling Shockley a suspect in Sergeant Graham's murder.
Sergeant Graham was shot and killed Sunday in the front yard of his Carter County home.
Investigators are now offering a $10,000 reward for information about Sergeant Graham's killer.
Sergeant Jason Clark of the Missouri Highway Patrol says, "As far as the homicide investigation, he is not a suspect at this time, he is uh has not been ruled out as a suspect, but he is certainly a person of interest."
"He is gonna be held in the Carter County jail on $100,000 bond in connection with that motor vehicle accident."
Sergeant Graham's visitation was held Wednesday.
His funeral will be Thursday morning at the First Baptist Church of Dexter, Missouri.
