Ok as everyone who has read my posts before is aware, i am new to the job. Im off FTO for about 2 months now. My question is this, in most departments is the biggest source of stress the supervisors? I love doing the job and there are days where i feel like this is the best job in the world. Then other days "usually" days when a supervisor is involved i hate it. I mean we have 7 different shift supervisors with 7 different personalities. It gets extremlely frustrating especially when you are on probation and your getting chewed out by one supervisor for doing things the way another supervisor wanted it done. Im pretty much venting here but i would like some feed back. Im hoping this is not isolated to just our department and does anyone have any tips to dealing with this lack of communication???

I haven't had 7 supervisors, but I've had occassions where there were a couple (acting sups vs. actual sups). All I can say is that I wrote my reports according to how each individual sup wanted. Every person has their particular style based on experience, education, etc. I figured it wouldn't do any good to say, "but ---- wanted me to do it this way." I am fortunate enough to not have sups that put me through stress like yours, but I can imagine how it must feel. While on probation, I'd say just go with the flow. Good luck.

While on probation, kiss butt while writing. Afterward, do it your way, because you probably write better than your supervisor anyway.
