Alrighty, hello everyone.

I am sure glad I have found this site, it gives me something to do at work. I work as a security guard at the front desk of an office building. Good thing I have the internet otherwise I would go insane. Can't wait till the day comes to start working in some real LE. I have taken few tests and can't get by the oral boards, I'm a sucky speaker. I just joined the Army National Guard as an MP, and I go to basic/MOS next February so I can finish up my B.S. Crim. degree this fall. So my goal is to test anywhere I can so when I come back from Army training next summer I will have experience and get hired quick so I don't have to work this ungodly, brain dead, :shoot2: boring job anymore!

Welcome to the boards!! Sounds like you are on an excellent track, it just takes time, a lot of paperwork and phone calls. You'll make it. I wish you the best.

Welcome aboard. You'll find this site has tons of info for whatever LE testing questions you may have. You might also consider taking a public speaking course that will help you for your oral boards! If nothing else it just takes experience and persistence with testing.
Good luck!

HB, can I give you an "amen"?! :) Thanks to everyone for the responses, I know I will learn a lot here (I already have!), and I hope to be able to contribute some things here and there.

Thanks to all,
Steve

Well here's my first posting. Been a member for about 4 days now and spent most of my time reading all the great information on here. My family and I just moved to MN last October after I completed my 5 Years in the US Army. Having ourselves in a more stable and settle conditon now we are looking forward to moving on to the next chapter in our lives. Both I and my wife dream of becoming Peace Officers here in the state of Minnesota. I will be taking the steps first. Strarting with having just applied to become a Reserve Officer here in my own city. I plan on starting my A.S. in Criminal Justice at Minneapolis Tech this coming spring. I'm planning on setting up a web site to to show our trials and errors up and to the point that I have that shield on my chest. Once I get the base set up for it i'll post the link. So having said that i'm glad to be here and thanks for the all the good info.

TTRAIN222,

Welcome to the boards. I too know what a mind numbing job security is. Like ranger, I worked the security gig after separating from the Army.

Your on the right track by joining the National Guard. You'll see your self-confidence change for the better throughout Basic Training. Just remember this, keep your mouth shut and your ears and mind open.

The military and law enforcement are built on the team concept. You rely on your battle buddy in combat and your partner on the street. Remember that and you'll see your family at the end of your tour of duty.

Good luck in your quest.

Stay Safe!!!

Welcome to the boards, good luck getting a job as a LEO. I too had to settle for Security work when I got out of the military but I am on track now.
