First of all...Thanks to the Mods for creating this new forum...i think its a great addition to this fine board :)

My real quesiton has to do with the FBI's announcement for the surveillance specialist position. I read all the previous threads about this position, so I think I understand that, but can anyone spell out the steps of the process?

I gather that there will be a oral interview, a medical exam and a BI. Is there anything else I am missing?

Also are these 1801's armed or are they displaced enough from danger that they don't need them. I noticed the training program was 3 weeks, and tends to make me believe that this would be an unarmed position.

Sounds like a pretty sweet gig though.

1811rBust,
Surveillance Specialist don't carry any weapons, Cameras maybe.. Mainly a covert gig..
You've got the steps down tho:
Panel Interview
Medical
Poly
BI
3 week training

Sweet GIG? I'll just say if your reasonably young looking for a challenge and a taste of excitement. MAYBE NOT in this gig. MOST NON retired individuals get out of this ASAP.

There are a thing or two that you may get out of this gig and that is CI experience and TS Clearance.

Thanks covert for the no-BS assessment! I'm still a youngin' in his early 20's...not quite thinking of retiring yet :D

Good luck with your search! SSG is a more interesting foot in the door.

Great! I was actually looking into that right now (ran into a lot of info on this board while researching the SS position). Looks like i'll have to wait...the FBI's quickhire program is down until about 3 EST.

I'll second what covert says, but add that SS is a good in if you want SSG. This I know from personal experience. It's a one year commitment (not that bad) and it gives you a good foot in the door.
