I got one yesterday. It said pending a successful BI. Im guessing this is a good thing? Anyone else recieved a COE by email? If so what kind of timeline did you on what their plans were for you? I.E., training dates? location of employment? Anything else?

Congrats on the COE. There have been some recent posts, something possibly about a class at the end of May. You should get scheduled for your poly and med soon. Your BI in all likelyhood will begin soon. That is all I know. I seem to be done with everything, but have not been told what my status is.

There's a class starting in less than 2 weeks, and then one more before the end of FY05 (October 1). I don't believe any have been scheduled yet for FY06, but I don't know that for a fact. The two for FY05, though, are solid.

It's funny how everyone hears something different. I'm not saying anything about anyone's sources here, but in my FO I'm hearing that classes are pretty much running back to back for the forseeable future. This is my supervisor who says the info is from DC, so now I don't know what to believe. The rumor mill seems to be turning overtime on this one.

Well, that may be true for the SA classes, but not the SSG.
The SSG class that was scheduled for late May got postponed today to late June. So that one's on the schedule, as is one more by the end of FY05.

Greeneye,
How did you find out that the SSG May classes are cancelled? Did you hear that from your AC? If this is true, it's a bad news for those that are ready to go and a good news for some of us that couldn't have made it to the class for one little reason or the other. I have completed the hiring process and my medical is being reviewed at the HQs . If all goes well, I will be in the June class, hopefully.

Well, that one's from HQ, so that one's done.
The bad news for ya'll is that the rumor mill (and this IS strictly a rumor) is saying that the next two classes are going to be a majority of internal candidates. So people already in the Bureau in other positions. No one knows how much credence to put in this rumor, but there have been several positions marked to be filled with internals recently.

Bad news for some, good news for others :) Can't wait!!! On the other hand, I do hope that it's not all on boards. It would be more interesting to have a more diverse class.

From what the rumor mill is saying, it'll be like 60-75% on boards, and then filling in with externals who are ready to go. Again, whether that ends up true or not, who knows. This next one is most likely a lot of internals, just because of the timing.
I know that most of the on boards who were supposed to go this month already knew about it and were told of their assignments. Don't know if they had completely filled out the class or not...so I'm not sure if there's any slots available for the June class for those in the pipeline or not.

Another update...the next class just got pushed back to early July.

Are there reasons why they are pushing classes back? Does it mean they don't have enough people for classes?

It means they haven't had time to notify me yet, but can't start without me :) (riiiiiight ;) ).

Nope, it's not a lack of people, it's just getting all the personnel in place to do it.

Ive been scheduled for a drug test, physical, security interview and polygraph in a few weeks. AC said target hire date was july-august if there were no snags in the BI. Pretty vague otherwise. Anyone else getting close?

Hi all,
I have been told by staffing personnel that I passed my medical with no follow-up required. It took a month and 10 days from the date of my physical to hear something. My medical was the last thing left in my hiring process and am now waiting to get my class date. Any one knows precisely when the next SSG class would begin? Please, feel free to let me know. Good luck to those in the process.
GM
I've completed all the steps as well, just waiting to hear if I passed them all. Finished up my medical last week.

Balz,
Do you by chance know when the next class would begin?

I got an email saying that the next class has been postponed. They are shooting for early July. That would probably put the following class somewhere in late August-early September.

Next class is scheduled to start the first week of July. Last class for FY05 is scheduled for August as of now. Word is July is decently full.

I got one by email also. It included the following request, "At this time please submit your college transcript(s) for your Bachelors/Masters Degree (whichever is applicable). Please fax the requested documentation to the attention of XXX XXXX on 202-XXX-XXXX. All documentation is needed as soon as possible in order to complete your background process."
Complete the background process? I didn't know it started. Maybe just the way they worded it because I have not even had my PSI yet-I just gave my 86 to the panel during the interview. Anyone get similiar emails?

I, too, received a COE via e-mail requesting my college transcripts prior to my PSI (this was back in January), so I believe this is pretty standard procedure after "passing" the initial interview. In my case, my BI also started BEFORE my PSI. I was surprised as hell when a few friends called me and said that they had been contacted by an investigator to set up an interview. The Bureau seems to be moving through SSG applications relatively quickly. Nevertheless, I can assure you that there will be periods where the process seems to come to a complete hault. This is just all a part of the deal. Hang in there, try to be patient and good luck!

How long after receipt of the COE did they contact your friend's for the interview?

Hey Proud Dad!
As I recall, my BI began very shortly after I received the COE. In fact, it may have been a matter of a week or two at the most. No one from the FBI informed me that my BI had begun, but I was very happy that it had. The only point where I had contact with my background investigator was when she called me to say that she needed to meet with my current employer. I believe that most of the investigators do this as a courtesy "heads-up." Otherwise, the BI seemed to go rather smoothly, even though they had to follow leads in NY, NJ, IL and CA. The BI process seems pretty efficient, so good luck to you with it all!
