I had a couple of questions related to the most recent "Firearms" questions.

I'm sure that variations exist for different agencies, but generally, what do 1811s carry on-duty? Gun, cuffs, extra mag...and???? And how about back-ups. How common is it for 1811s to carry back-ups and if they do, is it usually an ankle rig? Or???

Thanks for the insight.

Alot depends on your agency and current assignment. For example, when I had a DEA Task Force group on the streets, everyone had Glock 23s/27 backups, cuffs, 2 xtra mags, lights and we used to carry 4 extra flex cuffs inside our belt linings....for those fun gang encounters. Later on, I had a wiretap group with alot less street time. Guys carried principal firearms and basic stuff on a gunbelt for occasional use.

I carried my 27 on my ankle, 23 on the hip. Ankle carry is something you just get used to. I carried a Model60 on my ankle for 15 years and it became part of me. Some people like it, others can't deal with it.

Again, these configurations change from agency to agency.
