I just had my fit test and the written test on the same day yesterday. I passed both and now is the back ground investigation. So far the process has been smooth and the trooper has been very informative with any questions that we had.

Anyways its now time to wait for the BI to clear.

Stay safe.

This should not take long. Mine lasted about 2 weeks. He did most of the calling on Mondays. Only visited 3 people. It was easier than I thought it would be.

Bro5,

Did he come by your home and if so, what are they looking for? Did they contact you during the BI or just after it was done. Also what comes after the BI?

How far have you gone in the process? Is it your first time to apply with DPS?

Any answers would be great.

Yes, he came by my house. He asked me to come to the station first where you will fill out another long questionaire. Be prepared to give all you credit card opening dates and balances. I was'nt because I did not think they would ask that and they did. How much you owe on your truck, student loans, etc... Then he started calling people on the second day. The following Sunday he called my house from his cell phone and told me he was in the parking lot of my apt. complex and he would be at my door in two minutes. My apt. was very clean, I usually keep it that way, and me and my girlfriend were just sitting around watching TV. He came in and we just talked about all types of things other than LE topics. He spent about 30 minutes sitting on our couch and then he left. He never called me back until he was done. I found out I passed when he went to my parents house and told my mom that he was going to recommend me to go to the next step. I waited about one week then I went to the oral board. They don't tell you if passed or not. Your file will go to Austin where they will make the decision to invite you to Austin for the 3 day trip where you PAT again, medical exam, and psych. eval. if you pass all that then you will get an invitation to the academy. So my packet is in Austin being scrutinized and hopefully I will get an invitation. However, I read on an internet site today that the November academy might be pushed until after the first of the new year. Do you claim any minority status?

Bro5,

I am not a minority. My credit is great. I have no debt and pay off my credit card every month. The only payments other than my regular bills is my truck payment. When you went to the station to fill out the long question form, was it before he started the BI? Also were you aloud to bring info to help you fill out the form so that it would be complete?

Good luck with your process.

Yes it was before the BI started, and I think if I would of had my information with me it would of been very helpful! Bring you info. with you and act like you brought just in case he had any other questions about anything.

Who were the three people he talked
to, was it family or employers? How many
years did he go back on your past employers?

I don't know how far he would of gone back? He did go back to 1994 to my first job out of college. He went to my sisters house, my parents house, and one of my references house. And to my house, all on Sundays.

Bro5,

Did he talk to your current and former employer on the phone or in person? and do you know what he asks them?

He talked to him on the phone. He just asked him if a was re-hirable, and if I was a good guy, stuff like that. Remember, I had one laid back Trooper doing my BI. He will be retiring in a cuople of months. You might get some gung-ho young Trooper right out of the academy doing yours. Have you met the Trooper yet?

I have not met the trooper yet although I did get a call today on my machine at home telling me to get ahold of him on thur at 10AM over the phone.

Do you remember the name of your BI?

How much "blood" do you need to claim "minority" status? I've got some Native American in me, and this is just for personal knowledge.

Thanks,
