I got the call this afternoon from my bro working in the 77 in Crown Heights. Very sad news, he was my friend and a good company man. :(
Rest in peace bro.

An off-duty police officer was killed Wednesday night when the motorcycle he was riding with his girlfriend collided with an SUV, police said.
The driver of the SUV was attempting to make a left hand turn at the intersection of Flatlands Avenue and Van Siclen Avenue in the East New York section of Brooklyn when it was struck by the motorcycle around 9:30 p.m., police said.
The officer, identified as Kamal Matthews, 29, was taken to nearby Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 10:05 p.m.
The girlfriend, a police cadet scheduled to enter the academy next month, suffered a broken right leg.
Police said no charges would be filed against the driver of the SUV.
Both the driver of the SUV, identified as Martin Simon, 62, and his passenger refused medical attention.
The motorcycle, a 2005 Kawasaki, was traveling eastbound on Flatlands Avenue and the SUV, a 1996 Toyota 4Runner was attempting to make a lefthand turn from the westbound lane on Flatlands to the south bound lane on Van Siclen, police said.
Simon told a photographer on the scene he was stopped in the westbound lane of Flatlands Avenue waiting to make a left turn onto southbound Van Siclen Avenue just before the collision.
Witnesses on the scene reported the girlfriend was screaming, "My leg, my leg," after the crash.
There were no summons or arrests and an investigation is ongoing, police said.
