Assistant state fire marshal killed in motorcycle wreck

ROME TOWNSHIP, Ohio
Assistant State Fire Marshal Paul Ritchie has died in a motorcycle accident in Rome Township, Ohio.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ritchie lost control of his Harley Davidson, went off the road and struck a tree.
Ritchie, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
It happened today at about 1:20 pm.
The 60-year-old Ritchie was a resident of Crown City, Ohio, and was based out of the fire marshal's Huntington (WV) office.
I have known Paul since I was 10 and he was one of the biggest factors influencing my decision to pursue LE ...this comes as a terrible shock to our community and family.
FYI: Paul was a bomb tech and an instructor in EOD/ Hazardous Devices, he frequently travled throughout the country including FLETC and Redstone teaching or attending classes...some of you may know him... Rest in Peace, Paul... you will be greatly missed.
