Hello. I am currently a Baltimore City Housing Police officer, however, I am scheduled to take the NYPD exam on October 27. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I have a bachelors degree in criminal justice, and graduted from the baltimore city police academy(6 mos), and have been a police officer for the past 3.5 yrs. I know that NYPD has a lot of applicants, does anyone know if my qualifications will rank me higher then some, or is the ranking based primarily on the written civil service test.. Thanks

Do a search on the board you will be amazed on what you will find, From what you posted you should do better then ok. I'm not sure how the process was for you with the BHP but get ready for a ride.

After looking through my folder of Sh*@ that I have from going through the process I found something VERY importent from the APD ( Applicant processing Div). You might want to get a head start on getting these items.

1. Off copy of your birth cert (raised sealed)

2. High school dip

3.Marriage cert.

4. Records of div

5. SS card.

6. MV Lic and Cert of Reg

7. Selc service Reg card ( you can get this at WWW.SSS.GOV)

8. DD214

9. W-2 forms for the past FIVE years

10. Last TEN years of employment with DATES

11. Records of outstanding debts , judgements, garnishments.

12. TWO proofs of residence( rent stubs, utily bills) even if your from out of town.

13. THIS ONE IS VERY IMPORTENT!!!!!!!!!!!! " TRANSCRIPTS AND/OR DISPOSITIONS FROM COURT CLERK OF THE COURT OF TRIAL FOR ANY ARREST IN WHICH YOU WERE THE DEFENDENT. PROOF OF PAYMENT FOR ANY SUMMONSES YOU RECIEVED.

Be sure to have ALL this info when you go to your MED this should be the first step.

Well I must agree with everyone else. You will have no problem getting in they will be more then happy to get someone with your experience. I mean NY is a little strange, but I am sure you got your excitment in Baltimore. Well good luck and hope to see you soon in the NYPD.

I might get North NJ for this Jan or Feb but if not def. take my last phase for the NYPD and be in their next winter or Spring academy.

Any NYPD guys here have any friends OTJ or college buds in the city area that are loooking to split some rent for an apartment after the new year?

Thanks

I'm not sure how much the bankruptcy will hurt you if at all, As for the out of towners you will have to make a few trips the trick to this is get yourself someone in the scheduling dept that will work with you. I found out about a Det (from someone on this board) that was OUTSTANDING very helpfull and more then willing to work with your schedule. As you get closer to the processing reach out to me and I will send you her name and number.

Best of luck.
