I was reading a couple other threads and people were asking Hurricane related questions.

I recently applied to a GS 9/11 opening at FEMA in Philadelphia.

I'm hoping to leave IRS ASAP to work @ FEMA doing something.

My question is does anyone know about what they look for? Some tips? I thought I wrote a bangup KSA which I had reviewed by a pal who works in IRS recruiting.

I'm just trying to figure out how to break in !!

When i'm not collecting taxes @ IRS, I have a ton of Fire / EMS experience from my local department.

I don't know what I can do to make it go easier for me !

HELPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!! ;)

It might help if you could give us some idea what position(s) you are looking for at FEMA. It's a diverse agency with a lot of different disciplines. Off-hand, my suggestion would be to look at ALL the positions they post and consider applying to any that might interest you even if it isn't your first choice. FEMA tends to pay well for its more specialized position, and attracts not only internal candidates, but also expereienced emergency preparedness managers from the state, local, military levels. So consider looking for support positions outside the direct emergency preparedness/response field and using that as a way to gain experience within FEMA so you are better prepared to move into the position you want.
