Hi everyone,

This forum seems to be geared more to IRS-CI positions, however, I am looking for info on how and what to study for the IRS Revenue Agent accounting assessment exam.

I take the exam on August 20th and was told the exam was 75 minutes long covering the broad topical areas of principles of accounting, intermediate, cost, advanced accounting, and auditing. Has anyone out there taken this exam? Are there any specific study materials available? Is there another forum you are aware of that may be more specific to my quest?

Thanks sooo... much for your help!! :)

I would study some of your college textbooks.

I've been a Revenue Agent for a little over 4 years and its a great job. I didn't have to take a test when I applied.

Good luck.

Mike,

Thanks for your reply! I live in Palm Beach County and hope to obtain a position in this area.

Question for you--how is your performance measured? I read somewhere that RA's performance is measured by "dollars recommended". Is that true?

Secondly, would you be willing to talk with me for a few minutes on the phone at some point? I do not know anyone who works as a RA and would like to learn more about specific responsibilities, etc. Thank you!

I'm not an RA i'm an RO. However we used to be measured on $$$$ collected and they no longer do that. After RRA 98 when they took the teeth out of IRS Field Collection for the most part they stopped measuring people by $$$$ because you were hemmed up with new regulations.

I would suspect it's the same for RA's in relation to money reccomended.

I am some what surprised that the recruiter did not offer any guidance on the exam such as study material. I would contact my recruiter. The need for RAs is tremendous nationwide, but it might not be that way in your area.

I work in the Plantation POD (for one more week). RA's are not measured on dollars brought in. You are measured on quality of work, employee contribution to your group, case turnover rates, etc.

I would be glad to talk to you. PM me a date and time (maybe this weekend) and I will send you my phone number to call me.

Mike
