Yet another secnerio Q

Once again I come to you all to ask you about a scenerio question, and here it is: (This is a two parter)

While you are on patrol you reveive a radio call to respond to a local bar (Now think of the roughest bar in town) for a heated verbal arguement. When you arrive you see about 20 bar patrons surrounding a man you recgnoize as a local person wanted for child molestation. The bar partons know this and this is why they have surrounded them. (You are a solo officer). Your portable radio fails to work inside the building.
What do you do?

Here is how I answered. I would leave the building go to my patrol car and call for immediate back up.

Now the oral board threw in a few "minor" factors:
Same scenerio except the bar patrons are beating up the child molestor, and when you try to leave a <B>BIG</B> man doesn't let you leave the bar. And now the patrons are approaching you pool sticks in hand and saying, "You aint gonna take this S.O.B. outta here alive." What do you do?

I answered that I would so what ever it took to protect the child molestor and myself. Then one of the panelist asked, "Would you protect yourself first of the molestor?" And I said I would protect myself first, I couldn't help the molestor at all if I were severly injured or dead. Then asked how would I defend myself. I said I would use the lease amount of force necessary to take control of the situation. At this point I could see that they wanted me to be very specific to what weapon I would use, so I added that since I was so out numbered that I would draw my duty weapon and only use it if my life or the life of the molestor were threatened

Well, how do you think I did?

I WOULD HAVE TO GIVE A 9 ALSO, ONLY BECAUSE THERE IS NO PERFECT ANSWER FOR THIS SCENARIO, OTHERWISE IT WOULD BE A 10. I THINK YOU DID GOOD, NOW LET'S HOPE A SCENARIO LIKE THIS NEVER HAPPENS TO YA:D

First of all; You don’t respond solo (to the roughest bar in town) for a heated verbal argument without requesting back up when you receive the call.

Second: Use 911 on the telephone in the bar to request help. If the system is enhanced, you only need to dial and lay the phone down or hang up after connected and the dispatcher will put 2 & 2 together and send the cavalry.

Third: "You aint gonna take this S.O.B. outta here alive." At this point, the life of the molestor was already threatened.

First, let me say that if the dispatcher was on the ball, he/she would dispatch the call to you and request a back-up for you. If you arrive first, wait for your back-up before entering the bar(since just a verbal argument, no need to rush in). other answers were very good. I know If they are coming at me with pool sticks, my gun would be out of its holster in less than a second. You don't have anything worry about with this question, based on your answers in my humble opinion. Good luck.
