View Full Version : Duty Holster for tactical lights
I'm wondering if anyone knows of a company that makes a good standard duty holster (not drop leg tactical holster) that will accomodate guns with mounted tactical lights. I've tried the tactical holsters that you strap to your leg, but I guess because of my days in uniform I will always be more comfortable with a standard duty holster. Plus the type of work I do requires lots of time in and out of the car and the leg holsters seem to always get in the way and are just generally uncomfortable to me.
Thanks

Safariland makes them, I think 6280 is the model #.
I use one for my glock 22 w/the m6 light/laser.
I know Blade-tech makes some, I ordered one a few weeks ago and am still waiting on delivery.
I know that Don Hume makes them.
Most I know use the Safariland model. Not sure if it is out of preference or because that's what they're issued.

I know that SafariLand as a level one (hood) that can be attached with a belt-loop or a few-inch-drop-down duty configuration.
I don’t know if the SafariLand's new Raptor can accept the under barrel light. Any one knows if the new Raptor can accept the under barrel light?
Blade-Tech makes one (.blade-tech.c)
I thought that Comp-Tac made one, but I don’t see it on the web site (.comp-tac.c).
Fist Inc. will custom alter their tuckable-IWB #22K SECRET SYSTEM 2 (.fist-inc.c), which I think is the best out there for plain clothes.
The Safariland 6280 will accomodate many guns with lights.
Also, the newer Safariland 6004 thigh rigs will detach from the thigh plate and screw onto the safariland universal belt loop (UBL) giving you a lot of versatility if you think a thigh rig may ever come in handy. The UBL is basically a rigid belt loop that give you the option of different drops for standard holster ride.
If you already have a 6004 look on thie inside of the thigh plate. If there are three screws in a triangle pattern with two at the top and one at the bottom it should hook up to the UBL. Now just get yourself a UBL in whatever drop you like and you have a belt holster for about $25.

Although I do prefer the height of the thigh plate, for me personally, I like the belt loop better in that the belt loop draw does not get stuck when I draw. When I drawa with the thigh plate, unless I pull almost exact straight up verticle, the gun catches (almost gets stuck). I found that to use teh thigh plate I would conciously have to draw almost exact straight up verticle, which with practice, I guess could come in time, but I preferred the thigh plate; also becase it is more similar to when I wear IWB -- muscle memory.
