Baltimore- A man who applied for a job as a police officer suddenly found himself on the wrong side of the law.
When asked on the job application if he had ever committed a crime, Edwin V. Gaynor checked the box marked yes. When questioned, he told officers he had carjacked a woman and robbed 5 people in Teas, police Maj. George Klein said. He wa promptly arrested Klein said.
"I'venever seen anything like this," Klein said. "I guess something spooked him and he wanted to clear his conscience."
Gaynor, 21, gave police detailed descriptions of the crimes Thursday, including the fact that he wore a green and white bandanna and used a chrome plated handgun.
Gaynors house, his mothers house and a storage facility were searched after his arrest. The bandanna and gun were found along with several other weapons.
Gaynor was charged with carjacking, but has not been charged with robbery pending further investigation by Killeen police, Klein said.

Well, the article didn't really say anything about whether or not the arrest would disqualify him from the position...

A few years ago, I was sitting for a police exam in a big city. Just before the start of the test, they called a few names and told them to come to the front. Turns out, they all had warrants and were arrested. The PD ran checks on everybody who signed up for the test. DUH!

. . . For quite some time, MPD has granted waivers for 1 felony, ... I find that hard to believe!! Which 1-felony would that be??

There is no way they can give a waiver for domestic violence, which prevents possession of a firearm by fed law.

Let's get our facts together before making such a blanket statement.

To echo DelC's question, exactly what are you basing this on? It's funny how they neglected to mention this during my background investigation. I could've gone out and popped a cap into that one guy who cut me off and I still would've had a job after my prison stint. Please...
