Just wanted to get some input from some of you regarding belt holsters used in conjunction with ballistic vests while in plainclothes. I've tried using the Fobus and Galco holsters, but the gun still ends up getting caught under the vest, especially when seated in a vehicle. Any recommendations on holsters that clear the waist and allow more room for the vest?

I use a drop-leg holster with the full tactical vest when serving warrants and going out on arrests.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I know a few agents that wear jacket slotted duty belt holsters in plainclothes to clear body armor.

I have one of the blackhawk serpa holsters. It works well when wearing armor because it is not snug against the body. The downside is that it doesn't conceal as well under a t-shirt. I like it so far but I've only worn it for occasional plain clothes details and quite a few practice draws to build up the muscle memory. I'd have to carry it daily for a few months to give an accurate opinion on holster stands up to day to day abuse. I use the belt slot. I don't like the paddle as I have to have my belt too tight in order to keep the holster from shifting.

Thanks for all your input. I'll look into both types of holsters. Much appreciated!
