I'm looking into a personal carry firearm, and while I think Glocks and Sigs are great, I fell in love with how the HK P2000 felt in the hand and the overall design and size of the weapon (plus, I like the 3-dot sight which is standard on the P2000, as opposed to the standard "U"-like rear sights on a glock). However, having only shot Sigs and Glocks, I do not know the shooting specifics on HKs...Anyone with P2000 experience have some specifics on trigger pull, recoil, etc? The old threads didn't have quite what I am looking for, yet I don't want to post in the old threads.

I had a P2000 with the LEM trigger and while it was a good shooter, I didn't care for the way the gun felt in my hand. At the same time I had an H & K USPc in .40, also with the LEM trigger, and found that more ergonomic for me. It didn't matter which backstrap I had installed on the P2000, my trigger-reach wasn't as comfortable as the USPc. The P2000 did carry really well, though.

Thanks. How was the trigger pull for you? My friendly-neighborhood-firearms-dealer told me the pull on the P2000 was smoother than on the Sig but heavier than a glock, but with a quicker reset for follow up shots. Any opinions?
Again no personal experience with them but from other forums I frequent:
Fellow officers have used them. No reliablility problems that I am aware of. The main complaint I have heard and discovered is the trigger is garbage. An experienced shooter may be ok but the newbies jerk the long, heavy, sloppy trigger.
the trigger is LOOOOONG and can be mushy, but for an experienced shooter it's not that big of a problem.
I take it you are refering to the LEM trigger that the P2000 comes with? I sure like it better than a glock trigger.
It's that ridiculously heavy DA trigger that keeps me from ever endorsing HK pistols to others. I have never tried the LEM trigger, but when I handled a P2000 I found the trigger reach was too long (and I have long fingers).
Bought a P2000SK LEM trigger for off-duty glove compartment gun. There was no way I was ever going to get used to the trigger pull.
Here is the deal on the LEM pull. Yes it has a learning curve, it is not heavy. There is are two varients available, one is between 4 and 5 pounds, and the other a pound or two heavier. They can be changed back and forth. There is basically almost no resistance as the trigger is pulled until the hammer is back, and then a wall is hit that is the actuall resistance. Once youve shot it for a while you can be very fast and acurate.

Seems like a case of a good gun with a bad trigger.
For the cost of a new P2000 (around $900) maybe I am better off going for a Glock 19 (which I love), and just spring for 3-dot sights.
I have fired the P2000 in a .40 and do really like it. I own a the P229R DAK and while I also really like it, I like the smoothness of the P2000 a little bit more. I have also tried the SK model (also in .40) and the trigger feel is the same. The only difference (other than size) is that the SK felt a little more recoil.
In terms of just "feel", I do like the Sig more and usually get better groupings with it.
Either way, both the Sig and the P2000 are both excellent.
EVeryone here has good thoughts... for them. All of it is nice information, but essentially useless to you until such time as you get a chance to shoot this particular model for yourself.
It is great to be informed, but this is about what works best for YOU.

Go with the G19 and add Meps, you will be better off then if you spend the extra money for the HK. Also things such as holsters, mags, lights, etc, etc, are much cheaper and more abundant for the glock.
Good luck

Sounding more and more like what I am going to do, its $600 for a G19 vs 900 for the P2000.
one question, what is/are Meps?

600 bucks for a G19? Ouch, shop around I am sure you can get them cheaper then that.
Good luck, you will not be let down by the G19 and Meps!

My favorite gunshop/range in Chantilly, VA...little over 600 will get you a G19, two mags, cleaning kit, 4 hours range time, and 25 bucks off CCW classes....I'd say good deal.

CColema,
The gun should come with two mags already, and the four hour of range time is nice but it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. As for the ccw class, if you have been through a police academy or the military most states wave it. Do a search and see if you can find a refurbished G19, they are about 350 or 400 (at most and some come with night sites) and have it shipped to your ffl. You should be out the door for 450 or so. That is just my thoughts on the matter. You could also get a deal on a P2000 for 640 (I think) from CDNN.
Good luck
