Need a little input on getting a single point sling for my M4. What types of single point slings have you come across and how do you like them.
I am currently looking at the single-point from Troy Industries, but it has no elastic in it. But I do like the comfort pad of the Troy sling....my current 3-point sling cuts into my neck no matter how I position it, so it's got to go!
I have researched a bunch of different slings online, but wanted to hear from you who have actually used some of the single points.

This is not exactly answering your question, but Specter Gear makes some great 3 point slings. I use one for my M4, and it is wonderful. They have all kinds of products, just google their name, or combine the name to make one word and put www at the front, and com at the end.

What is better than one slingshot
two slingshots, but try not to use them both at the same time :2gun:
Concord, have you seen Blackhawk's rig? I have not used it yet, but know two agents that have it, and they do not have any complaints. Hope this helps. We purchased 3-point Specter rigs for our guns here, but I have not used single point yet. Good luck.
PS, Say hello to Nick for me!!!!

Actually that's a lie...I was certified to carry a slingshot, but as of yet have not been issued one. hahahaha, sorry that was funny to me.
I would avoid anything with elastic because over 90% of the time you will go hands on. Unless you have some type of weapon retention system on your belt. The weapon bounces all over when you go to sling and put hands on. In training I have seen it bounce down and hit the role player in the face pretty hard.
Just my two cents, but, I don't really care for single-point slings.
The main reason is truly a personal one... I had an an incident wherein I doing transition drills from M-4 to Sig (229 in .357) and whacked myself in the cojones with the bloody M-4!
I know, I know... I was supposed to have maintained control with at least one of my hands, and I normally do, but this is what CAN happen if you aren't careful.
Just a thought.

I have several Specter slings, including both 3 point single point, and they are among the best I have ever seen. I use the Specter MOUT for single point applications.
Single point slings are good for someone who is going to use the gun to do a specific purpose, (i.e raid, or warrant service) and then put it away. If you are going to be doing things with the gun, a regular old two point sling, like the excllent Viking VTAC, is probably better.
With a two point sling, you can move the rifle out of your way for doing things like searching, handling prisoners, or carrying evidence or other items. A single point pretty much means the gun is hanging down in front of you when not being held.
It is ususally much easier to sling a two point sling equipped weapon, as in a situation where you exit your vehicle and want to be able to use the sling right away. Here is a good test. Try putting a complicated sling on while running and then try putting on a two point while running.
Single point slings work great for SWAT type missions. They are not so great for some other ones where you will be using a rifle.
My $0.02 :D
