Multiple Questions Rule

I violated a rule, and apologize. However, can we have a reasonable discussion about this rule for one second...

The forums here are full of examples of multiple questions. The rule seems to be inconsistently applied at best, but more importantly, if the questions are logically grouped and circle the same topic area, it seems its a better way to go then posting ten questions.

For example, specific questions about an agency, such as pay/benefits, equipment issued, working hours, training requirement, etc., are all easy to address in one post - at least from my perpsective. And it makes a nice one-stop shop. I don't even think the example used to illustrate the rule is a bad one, actually. I do agree, that multiple topic AREAs should be avoided (I want to be FBI...do they pay well? What about ICE? Do they have g-rides to take home? Can a DoE OIG get issued a tank? What about NCIS Agents - are they allowed to attend SEAL training?)

I'm happy to follow the rules as best I can (hmmm...feel like I am in my supervisor's office here) . Just making a suggestion.


When you get a thread that goes ten pages long, with every other post talking about a different topic, just think how difficult it would be for someone to find answers when searching for just one of the topics listed in the original post.

Along those sane lines, the “Thread Title” should indicate what the thread is about or asking in detail, somewhat. Thus, when members are scanning new Threads they will have an idea what is being asked or stated in the thread. Most people just scan the Thread Title and determine if they want to read the post, as opposed to reading every post that comes along.

i.e., If I have direct knowledge about shift schedules for the FBI, a Thread Titled; “FBI” is not going to draw my attention. But, a Thread Titled; “FBI - Shift Schedules for Agents” will.

Plus, when you have a post that asks a dozen different question, how can you get a reference to all of the questions in the title?

And we all know "Moderator" is French for "Wolfpack" and that you guys smell blood and pile on :) Hell, I bet krellum and nsedet just got automatic e-mail notifications that dissent was detected in the Firearms Forum!!
