My grandfather is in Canada on business, and apparently the Candian news media is telling ALOT more than the American Media.

What they were saying is that the airline kama khazis had about 40 missions all over the US. But that the FBI shut down the airlines so fast they didn't get to follow through on them. Those other trained militant pilots are still out there....

All of them trained in the best flights schools in the US. The 18 terrorist's they are claiming is more like 50...

NOTE: This is something I've heard thru word of mouth from my grandfather who I'd trust with my life, but this had come from a media source in Canada who I'm not aware of. I have no way to prove or disprove this, we can only hope that this is false or the other 32 people are caught.....

Whether news is from Canada, USA, or Afghanistan for that matter....the media is still the media. In highly publicized events such as this, they need to "create" their own twists to get people to watch their station, or read their newspaper.

Who knows if this is true....and I believe it could be....but I choose to decipher what I believe is facts, over publicity.

I can believe it. Kudos to the Feds for reacting so fast in grounding all aircraft.

But like CO_Hopeful said, it is the media....and you always have to be careful in believing what you see and hear.

I'm in Canada and I haven't seen anything that would support that information in any of the news coverage that I've seen. While the FAA should be commended for its quick reaction, it is also important not to engage in 'friend of a friend' stories that only serve to create unnecessary panic.

ALl we will know from this situation, or any crisis for that matter is what the politicians want us to know, and what the media decides to reveal, which is usually everything they find out. But what they find out, beleive it or not is not as much as we think. But in all actuality, we are proably better off not knowing everything. It's sad, but true:crying2:

Like I said, this was by word of mouth, and I'm not sure of the "station" responsible for this claim, and I don't have a link to any such claim. And I agree with you, I shouldn't have posted it, but I felt people of the LE community wouldn't believe everything the media said :)

BUT, where ever he heard it, it must have been true.... Was it LA where they arrested 10 people of middle eastern descent carrying knives along with some of them having pilot license/certificates from the flight school in Florida where the other terrorist's received their training??

Come on now gcc123. Do you really believe that the media tells us everything that they know about? I agree with ya that the politicians sure as hell don't tell us everything they know about, but the media? I trust them about as much as Bin Laden. :D

Yes you are right, I should reword that statement. "The media reveals only what they want us to know" No I don't think they reveal everything that they are told, and no I sure as hell do not trust them. But I have to beleive that it is proably in are best interest not to know everything. Yeah that really pisses me off  But I feel that is why they don't tell us everything, which has it's advantages, and disadvantages!

I would like to amend that to say "The media reveals only what they want us to know in order to sell more papers or get more viewers..."

:)
