Hi Everyone,
Happy new year from Ireland!

Just looking for opinions on "needle resistant" gloves.
Have any of you guys/girls used them, how effective are they etc.

Any information appreciated.

Thanks

I got a pair, I forget the name brand off the top of my head. The only promise is that you lose a little feeling in the tips of your fingers, I know guys who do an over search first, and any questionable pockets they put on the gloves and go through the pocket.

I own a pair of Turtleskin puncture resistant gloves, and overall I like them. You loose a little bit of dexterity and some feeling in the fingertips, but I feel it was well worth the investment.

I dont trust them. If I know or suspect a needle in the pocket, I will slice it open. The gloves might work when new but over time the protective material will wear out and could fail without warning.

Persoanlly I just use a cheap pair of baseball gloves (so I don't have to deal with skin-to-skin contact) and cut the pocket open if I feel anything long & cylindrical.

Do you get a lot of complaints about that? I'm not saying what your doing is bad I'm just wondering the legality of destroying clothing.... Not an attack just sheer curiosity

This site offers a lot of fun stuff, including Kevlar gloves.

When I started my LE career, I got a pair of Hatch with Kevlar and used them twice. I cut the trigger finger and thumb (for mag release) out because I lost so much "feel". The last straw for me was when I had to take them off to double lock my cuffs.

I switched to a pair of Body Glove batting gloves that give me a lot of feel plus some protection and most importantly.....THEY LOOK COOL :2gun:

Don't go digging in places you can't see and you won't need Kevlar.

Great point, always revert back to your training.

Wouldn't anything on the person's skin, then be transfered onto your gloved? How do you clean them?

all work related clothing gets washed at the local laundromat, personal clothes gets done at home.
