Considering getting one of taurus's large-frame .357 revolvers for rec shooting. (Figure .357 is the way to go with revolvers... .38 cheap ammo, shoot lots of it, and put the magnum rounds in on special occasions...)

I like the price on the Taurus and the 8-shot capacity. How do Taurus revolvers stack up quality-wise? Everything I've read says the autos are so-so but the revolvers are very nice...from those with experience, what's your opinion? Thanks...

I havent had a Taurus wheelgun in a long time. I had a 4" .357 that I had no problems with what-so-ever. I know alot of people on firearm boards that I frequent like the snubbies but I didnt find anything concerning the larger frames. The only thing negative I could find was the Taurus customer service is its downfall. Lots of complaints about how slow they are, left hand doesnt know what the right is doing, etc. etc.

I'm not sure about their large frames, but I had a Model 85 I think it was. Small frame .38 snubbie. It was excellent. However, I had to trade it in on a S&W, since my agency would not allow me to carry it.

I have owned a Taurus 850ti . 38 / 2" (no hammer) :2gun: for a couple of years now. The ti means it's a Titanium model. It is a very well made revolver. I have carried it as a back-up during all four seasons. The gun weighs next to nothing loaded and is factory ported !!!! I have put some old +P+ through it and had no problems. I also use Cor-bons & Mag-Safe ammo depending on what I am doing on a particular day. All in all, a very reliable piece, much better than my old S&W Model 60.

Thanks for the heads-ups, guys. Looks like I'll hold off for a bit (hell, I'm at FLETC now and can't buy a gun anyhow...), but I do think I'll buy one of these when I get settled. Should be a nice alternative to shooting the duty weapon all the time (9mm SIG auto), just to mix it up. I just like revolvers.
