A Face in the Smoke?

A couple of still photographs of Tuesday's attack on the WTC Towers in NYC have gotten a lot of attention from the public.

One of the photos is from the Associated Press and the other from CNN. Many claim they see a strange shape in the clouds of smoke in the photos. They say they can see eyes, a nose, a mouth and horns.

CNN has not commented, but the AP says the photo was untouched and unaltered.

We've gotten an incredible amount of response to these pictures.

The AP photo was transmitted within 40 minutes of Tuesday's attack by freelancer Mark D. Phillips who has been working with the AP for 15 years. Barbara Moike was the editor on the AP picture desk that morning and told 9NEWS that AP has a very strict written policy which prohibits the alteration of content of a photo in any way.

She sent it out to AP subscribers--just the way it was received. Another AP photo executive, Vin Alabiso, says "the smoke in this photo combined with light and shadow has created an image which readers have seen in different ways."

As for the CNN photo, it was posted the first day of the attack and has since been taken down. 9NEWS was unable to get any on-the-record comment from them, but they have a similar policy regarding content alterations.

Anyone else notice the face in the photos?? I noticed it as I was copying the photos from the web sites a couple days ago.

Hey, Delc I saw the face in the picture you were talking about and that is kind of freaky. However, with computers you can destort just about any picture. I think someone was just doing that to get attention.

If you compare it too the "face" on Mars you'll find it's almost identical.

If you watch the CNN video of the face they have you can actually see the face come out in the smoke and fire as the video roles.

As far as the other one goes I have no idea whether or not it is true or not.

I have seen the face in the pic, and watched the video to back it up, its there, no questions about it!

You can definately see it in the one from CNN but the one from the AP I can't see it. I think it is fake but who really knows.

the faces from AP was fake, someone is trying to play off others, can't find it any of the video's, unlinke the one from CNN!

Freaky, that's for sure. But with or without those faces, the fact is that these bastards who did this, and whom ever supports terrorism are an evil force, and will be dealt with fiercely! God will not help them- only they can help themselves. Some times, in order to fight such evil, you sort have to fight it with evil. Kind of like fighting fire with fire.

I don’t think any of the photos are fake. It’s just the way the camera caught it. I don’t attach anything special to the fact that a face can be seen in the smoke, as it’s not unusual to look at smoke or clouds and see an image. If you look hard enough you can see about anything. As kids we used to look at clouds and find all kind of interesting things.

Here are a couple more photos. The one on the left looks like PacMan and the one on the right I don’t know who it looks like??? I’m the one that put the little window around the faces, in case you’re wondering.

We got to talking about this in class yesterday and I do belive things happen for a reason, who knows why people see faces in the smoke, but if its true, then it happened for a reason. We may not know the reason right now, but down the road it may become alot clearer!

I think your Pac Man is a baby American Eagle in flight with the right profile facing us and its left wing visible behind its head...

I have to say tho...I did not know anything about this controversey until I mentioned to someone, " I was watching the television reports when I saw the #2 Tower building collapse. I just kept muttering 'unbelieveable, unf--kingbelieveable' --when I saw in the huge clouds that billowed from street level face after face after face...probably twenty-thirty of them! All ages, women remarkably more than men (the flowing hair perhaps..) ..."

That Satan thing actually looks like a person to me without the satan config even being in my mind...and I think it realy looks like Osama Bin Laden !!!

Sorry folks, but this thing hit me a lot harder than anything has in a long time. I was stranded on the West coast for 3 days, and sick to boot, due to this. During that time, all I saw was the WTC/Pentagon tragedy. The shock waves & fall out from this are going to affect a lot of people for years to come.
I just had to get this out of my system.

IL LAWMAN. You have said it best. I guess it all depends on what you believe as far as the images in the picture. If they weren't doctored, then yes it is pretty freaky, but I guess we will never know. It just depends on what you believe.
