Just to give you an overall view of my situation, This past May I graduated with a bachelor's degree and have been looking to get into Fed LE. I've been told from several different people that the military is a great place to start this career. Especially considering that I'd like to go to law school some day. And with everything that's been happening in NY and DC I'm pretty much convinced that I want to serve soon. If you were in my shoes would you enlist or try for ots. what do you think are the benefits and drawbacks of both options.
I really appreciate your responses.

Since you have a bachelor Degree, go OCS, defintely. As a matter of fact, why not look into having the military send you to law school. You may have to serve 6 or more years after graduating as a result, but if they pay for it, I think it is worth it.
I went through ROTC, and served as a commissioned Army officer for 8.5 years. It defintely was a benefit to me when I got out and began applying for LE.
Benefits of being an officer; better pay, housing, allowances, working with extremely talanted NCO's and soldiers and leading them in the field.
Drawbacks; responsible for everything that happens or fails to happen under your span of control, can become extremely political, responsible for large amounts of personnel and equipment.
these are just some of the things I can thinkof off the top of my head. I know if I had to do it all over again, I would not change a thing. Hope this helps. Good luck.
