I would like to dedicate this to fallen "Officer Donan James Faulkner". He was shot to death multiple times while in the line of duty on Thursday, September 20, 2001. There are no suspects at this time, but there is a city wide manhunt right now in the city of Peoria, IL. My prayers go out to his wife, and his 5 young children. Officer Faulkner was only 37 years old. Officer Faulkner, you are in our prayers!

This is the update on Officer Donan J. Faulkners shooting death. On the news tonight. There was an arrest made, and all they would say was that it was a young adult. Officer Faulkner was a 7 year veteran, and an FTO. Faulkner is the 13th policeman to be killed in the line of duty in the City Of Peoria P.D. He got on the radio to say that he was on a foot chase, and told his location, and then when dispatchers tried to reach him, the other end of the radio was dead. He was found by fellow Officers. He was found around midnight early Thursday morning. I have attached the newspaper article from the Peoria Journal Star.

PEORIA - A manhunt was under way today for suspects in the gunshot killing of a Peoria police officer early this morning on Peoria's South Side.

Police officer Donan J. Faulkner was shot while on duty shortly after midnight near Saratoga Street and Romeo B. Garrett Avenue.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Peoria police at 673-4521 or CrimeStoppers at 673-9000.

The officer is the 13th Peoria city policeman killed in the line of duty, and the first to be shot to death in 48 years. The last city officer slain was John Cusson, who died Aug. 26, 1947 after being shot by a burglary suspect.

The last city officer to die in the line of duty was Norvall Wright Jr., who died Sept. 17, 1953 when he lost control of a motorcycle he was riding and slid into a vehicle on North Street near Hamilton Boulevard.

The last police officer killed within city limits was Peoria County sheriff's deputy John Sack, who died Oct. 1, 1987 when he was shot three times in the back after serving an arrest warrant.

Please remember to keep Officer Faulkner and his family in your prayers! There is a donation fund that has been set up to help his family! When I get the phone number and information, I will post it on here!
