Can anyone help?
We just moved to Texas. Husband deciding to go Texas DPS.
Currently law enforcement for another state. Was given an app. from Trooper who said they need Troopers bad. With his experience, college and currently an officer in good standing, can he make it in time for November 2001 Academy?
Please send any and all information on the process. Told it goes fast.

I don't know how it works down there, but it would have to move really fast to get everything done for a November class. I guess it's possible if they do all of the testing on the same day.

I talked to a recruiter last week and he
said the November academy was pushed
back until early January.

Thanks for the reply......

Which recruiter/office are you using? If you don't mind me asking.
We will be using the Tyler Office. Any reason as to why it was pushed till January?

Any and all infor would be helpful.

I called the Houston office, but I am applying to
the Beaumont office. Ya'll are pretty sure of
your selves if ya'll moved to Texas already.
I'm not sure why they pushed it back to
January, but I'm glad, it gives more time to
go through the process. Please keep us
informed of the process.

The process is very quick compared to a lot of the stories posted on this web site. From my initial contact to the end of my background check only about 40 days passed. Then a week later I had my oral interview. The class got pushed back because they are really pushing minority recruitment right now. Especially women. This last class supposedly has 40 females in it, when the average is something like 4 or 5. They are having a hard time recruiting because every other agencies are recruiting minorities also, and they have a much better salary.

JarHead, you are correct in reference to the Texas DPS academy, it was pushed back to early January. I applied with the Texas DPS and passed everything from the physical, written test, and the interview. Unfortunately I was not picked to attend the September class. I did receive a letter though stating that the next academy will begin in January, and I am still being considered for the January class. So my advice to you Sunniesmilin is to have your husband apply as soon as possible, so he can get the ball rolling. The background check takes quite a bit of time.
