Oof, well for a college boy like me i'm not accustomed to the paramilitary life yet. I'm learning real quick though.... this was the first day of the academy for LAPD class 09/01. Our class was fairly mid sized at around 43 recruits. To those that complain LAPD doesn't hire whites I say that's utter B.S. at least 60% of the class was white, 30% hispanic and 10% black/asian. We had around 6-7 out of state recruits in our class as well. I was literally 20 seconds till 6:00am late and saw the tail end of the recruit chain running to get into formation. Needless to say this scared the hell out of me when I saw this and somehow I managed to park and jump out of my car while I sprinted faster than I've sprinted before to get into that line. Luckily, I managed to at least get into line and fall into formation without being officially late. EVERYONE got an asschewing, they had around 6-7 various D.I.s, P IIIs and training officers there yelling at us and nitpicking everyone/everything. singling us out etc.. very similar to the marine "orientation" day. I expected this though from talking with other recruits so it didn't phase me much. We were then "orientated" into squads and made to memorize our formation. The rest of the day consisted of getting our pictures taken, vaccinations, and a massive amount of paperwork detailing our benefits, schedule, etc. We got our serial #s and were also sworn in same day as well. It looks like a very interesting week ahead of us here...i'll detail weekly if anyone is interested right now i'm rambling and totally bushed :)
