Does anybody on this board have any info, or is any body a current or former PO for Nevada? I am applying and have the written test in about a month. Also, I would like to know any info about the department that anybody could give.

Any info would be appreciated.

I just took the physical agilities test for Nevada P&P. I am now waiting to do oral interview...etc...
I was a former PO so I was exempt from taking the entrance exam. I will start of as an Officer II if hired.

MJ, did you take the physical on 10/31?

I did take the physical on 10/31/01. Since I am from out of state, I also took the oral that same day and I was given the background packet to fill out and turn in within 10 days. I too am a PO in Texas and the oral went very smoothly.

wow, i didn't know that some parole or probation departments give physical agility tests.

The Nevada Parole and Probation officers are full peace officers and the academy is done with the Nevada Highway Patrol. The only difference between the training is that P&P officers don't get the driving instruction that the Highway Patrol does.

Did they say when the next step will be?? How long before academy, how many hires??

Did you happen to interview with a guy named Ed?

Do you happen to be the guy from Texas who was also a Sheriff's Deputy?

I am the one that was in the sheriff's department. They didn't say when the next step would be or even how many they would be hiring.

I just have to mail in the background packet and then go from there.

As far as the interview, I can't remember any of the names, but there were 3 officers and one was the chief or assistant chief of that section.

Have you reived a date for the oral yet?

Also are you the one that was the PO in Louisiana?

Yes, I was the PO from LA. Nope, I havent rec'd my oral date yet. I will probably call by mid week if I dont hear anything

If your able, try to find out how many they are going to hire and when the academy is that we are trying for.

Good luck with the oral, but since you have PO experience it should be an easy interview.

Some of the other people that did the interview the same day said that they got grilled and they were also in there for a long time. It only took me about 10 minutes and we were done.

Lets keep each other posted on the process and again good luck.

I don't know if this is just for the background packet or what, but I would call somebody just to see what is going on with your status.

I called Ed Henderson who said there is somewhat of a mix up with personnel, he said I should hear something by Wednesday regarding an interview.

I just mailed off my backgroung packet on 11/8/01. (over night delivery). Hopefully things will happen quickly.
