After being sound asleep this morning after working a 17 hour drug surveillence-buy bust....I hear that damn answering machine come on....Ann Ore leaves a mesage to call her back....

Well, I qucikly jumped out of the bed and called her....

She said US Customs wanted to offer me the GS-7 job and would attend the FLETC October 21st class.

She said I was assigned to the Miami SAC office and they, FLETC and HQ will be in contact with me.

She said HQ is mailing paper-work, FLETC and Miami SAC will be calling with info.

I am about to go the barber shop.....and cut ALL my long, long hair off and shave this damn beard and mustache.....and take these earings out....no more undercover vice look anymore!!!!!!!!! No more buying twenty dollar crack rocks!! I haven't had a clean face in 4 years!!...I might have to work in uniform one last time for old time's sake!!

I told my wife she would know when I got the job when she sees me with no hair!....will be dowloading Will's Smith song, "Goin' to Miami"...to let her know where we're going!!

Anyways, you guys that were right close to me in the process, dutch, Angelo....hopefully you'll be getting called soon for October.

I forgot to ask if the Octover 21st class was full....I guess not if she called me.....

Concord.

First of all congrats. I know you have been waiting for this a long time. Second, was Miami one of the selections you made on the scantron. My timeline is very similiar to yours and seeing your post is encouraging, but, as someone said in this forum, "the watched telephone never rings." Good luck.

Concord,

Congratulations! You'll love Miami. It's a cool place. Not what it used to be years ago. Water everywhere!! I'm jealous. Make sure you check out South Beach--the wife will think it's cool. PM me if you have questions...I used to work for a company in Miami and spent alot of time down there. Good luck!

Hey Concord,
First off, congratulations! Funny I applied the same week you did and I'm just getting my interview next month.

I have a question for you. Did you have any say at all as to your duty location? Did you offer you any kind of choice? Thanks...

Congrats on the selection.

Question. Did you lobby for Miami or was it just luck of the draw? I know some on this board have suggested writing, calling, or meeting with the SAC at the location you would like to go. Has anyone done this, or is it just a waist of time. I've also heard some talk about getting stationed close to where they lived, the only problem is the location I'm currently living is just temporary and about 12 hours away from "home."

KA12345

I did try the "lobbying" technique to no avail. I sent a letter to the Chicago Office where I interviewed at. It didn't make any difference they still sent me to San Diego. I am not complaining though, it will be a lot nicer than those Chicago winters.

I still don't think it can hurt to try sending a letter. All they can do is say no.

good luck

Thanks everybody for all the support and nice comments....this forum is the best thing out there for support and comraderity among everybody pursuing the big 1811 "Fed" job....

"McCloud-Lewis"....I thought I heard you in the background laughing during that phone call!!!!

I had no say so or options as to where to go....I was one of the people who suggested writting or calling your prefered SAC or RAC office....I did write Charleston RAC, Wilmington NC RAC, and Norfolk RAC .... it did not hurt anything to write.....

I was happy...well extatic...with Miami....

I know my buddy "Angelo" received a call and given a list of 15 diferrent cities to pick from (mostly SW and middle part of the US)...he picked Dallas and the lady thanked him and hung up quick before he could ask what was going on.....he is the only one that I have heard of who got this kind of call....he'll be in the January class......right Angelo???

Anyways....only advice I can give is keep "HARASSING" the hell out of the USCS HR people...stay on top of them and those paper-shreding interns.

I'll keep posting updates throughout FLETC and for you guys/gals going October 21st....I'll see you there (make sure someone brings a playstation!!!!!!)
