Greets all,
This has got to be the funnest week I have had in the police academy. Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) is one of the funnest things I have ever done in my life. Bagging on cars and learning different things behind the wheel is an absolute blast! We did have one that still needs to retest on the pursuit course, but other than that the pass rate was pretty good among our group.
I am hoping JOBAY will post with an update with her group, as our academy class was split in half. Half of us went to the firearms range the other half to EVOC; next week we switch. Anyway, JOBAY was in the group that went to the range.
Having been in the military I have been through the range sort of training before, but EVOC was totally new to me. The only down side is I can not seem to get rid of the ghost smell of burnt rubber and super-heated brakes. Man it is an absolute rush driving Code 3 in traffic at high speed! Not to mention the pursuit course, and the numerous other courses and tests we did.
Regardless I can not be too specific but needless to say it was one the of the funnest things I have done in my life, let alone as part of the academy!
Good luck and stay safe to everyone out there!
Nice to get out of the classroom, huh ? :-) Glad you had a blast !

Nice to hear EVOC was a blast, we start ours in a couple weeks (I just finished week 10, or 11 hell I cant remember) anyways, you guys start training for the scenarios yet? Im curious to hear about how much training/how prepared you feel going into them... if/when you get to it let me know!

Heya relative,
As far as Scenarios/Simulations (Sims as we call them) we have already completed 8, or two sets, of them. We get the formal classroom time and then we get quite a few on our own time preperation sessions. I felt that we were adequately prepared for most of them, although with the limited time that is allotted to the task some were covered in a much richer detail than others. Our first set of Sims was at the end of our 10th week, our last set was at the end of our 13th week. We are now starting week 15.
Good luck to you!:)
Sig20 sorry I have been absent a while but it has been busy with everything going on, and just the day to day academy stuff. I should be posting more often, or more specifically more regularly when the chances arise! Thanks for the kind words and I hope everything is going great with you!?!
Please take care out there!

Ahhhh, EVOC What a great time. I remember it well. Mainly because the guy who was driving behind me wrecked his patrol car and took out a fence line that seperated our course, and the juvinile deliquent school.
And ofcourse because it was a BLAST to drive code 3 at 70 MPH+.
I am glad to hear that you are having such a great time at the academy. I wish you continuing good luck.

HEY GUYS- THE RANGE WAS GREAT! IT WAS SOOO NICE TO ACTUALLY BE TREATED LIKE AN ADULT FOR A WEEK. I WISH IT WAS ALL LIKE THAT. WE HAD ONE INSTRUCTOR WHO SAID THAT HE DISAGREES WITH YELLING BECAUSE WE ARE ADULTS AND LEARN BETTER WHEN WE ARE TREATED WITH RESPECT. I RESPECT HIM THE MOST OUT OF ANY INSTRUCTORS WE'VE HAD THUS FAR. I'M A PRETTY GOOD SHOT. THE BERRETTA SHOTGUNS KILLED ME- I'VE GOT A BRUISE FROM MY SHOULDER TO MY ELBOW. BUT SO DO SOME OF THE GUYS- SO I DON'T FEEL TOO BAD. PRETTY TOUGH FOR A LITTLE GIRL!! WELL, GUYS TAKE CARE- AND NONSEQUITER- HAVE A BLAST!!!!!

Hehe Jobay this made me LOL because I know the exact feeling right now. It's all part of the game really, I do feel like i'm back in elementary school except this time I have several mean teachers instead of one.

ROFLMAO, good one JOBAY!
Matter of fact we did the Beretta 1201 Semi-auto shotguns today! I absolutely love them and want one of my own!!! :D
I really like hip shooting them and swing fire... BOOM BOOM BOOM :shoot2:
BTW my Beretta 96G is getting quite a work out too! I am getting close to putting more rounds through my duty weapon than I have through my own personally owned handguns! The best part is the ammunition is free!!!
I am having a blast!:D
Sweeeet! EVOC and Firearms, I remember those times well (it has only been a couple weeks since I graduated) ...
Red Light- Green light was a blast also. I hope you guys/gals are having fun because you will remember the academy forever!!
Best of luck to you guys/gals especially in scenarios/sims..
let us know how it all goes. (when you have time..)
