View Full Version : Handgun Safes
I am looking for a high quality pistol safe that utilizes a keypad or similar type system. I don't want key entry unless it is as a back-up fail safe.
Preferably, the safe would fit under a bed or on a closet shelf, and hold up to four or five handguns. Any suggestions?
Dwight6, Check out the "Gunvault" by Advanced Security Products. It has an electronic keypad with a key backup. Mine is the deluxe model with a motion alarm and tamper indicator if someone should try to get into it. It says it will hold two guns, but I have four in mine right now. It also has a nightlight inside of it so you can see your guns. It comes with mounting hardware to secure it to a shelf and a under bed bracket is optional. The deluxe Multivault retails for about $260, but I found mine on Ebay for $200. The company has a website, it is www.gunvault.com I think. I recommend this one.
I agree with SO548, I have one of these also and it works like magic. I bought mine off of www.gunbroker.com , an eBay like site just for guns and accessories...check it out, you'll probably find a good deal on there. I got mine for $149.
Thanks guys. I checked it out, and it looks like what I am looking for.
Are there any prolems with trying to get into the safe in the dark?
Thanks again.
I have had no problems getting into mine, in daylight or at nighttime....
I get off shift at 0400, so it is dark when I come home and put my guns away, and I haven't had any problems getting into it. The gunvault has a large wide keypad in the shape of four extended fingers. You place your hand on the pad and enter your entry code. The code is programmable by the user. The keypad had raised bumps and grooves for proper hand placement. I think you'll will be very happy with one.
Also the whole interior is lined with foam padding to protect your guns. There are two sizes availible. One called the minivault and one called the multivault. You might be hard pressed to fit the mulitvault under a bed, it is pretty big. The multivault has a removable shelf in it. It can be removed to store other larger items such as a camera, jewelry, etc. It also has a jack for an external power supply (available at radioshack) so you will only have to use the battery power as a backup. I don't think you can go wrong with this one.
