I have been looking for a sturdy, reliable ankle holster for the Glock 27 for a while now. It will be used for uniformed patrol back up. A partner just bought one and raves about it, but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Wondering if anybody has used it and the pros/cons. Thanks in advance.:firedevil :firedevil

I carried a SIG 239 in a DeSantis Apache for a while. As big and heavy as the 239 is for an ankle rig, the Apache did an admirable job. I think it would be a good choice for a Glock 26/27.

Never used the Desantis, but Galco's ankle rig has been great for the last year with my Glock 27. Hasn't yet come loose during foot pursuits, over walls, etc... It also works nicely as a Sunday-go-to-meetin' holster.

I have the DeSantis Diehard ankle rig for a G27. The neoprene is too flimsy in my opinion. I much prefer the Galco Ankle Glove which has no problem supporting a 23. The elastic on the Apache may be better than the neoprene on the Diehard. Borrow your buddy's and see what you think.

Go Alessi for your G27 ankle rig. No wiggle and outstanding craftsmanship.

I carry a 239 as a secondary. How'd the Apache hold up for you? I'm assuming you either stopped carrying on your ankle or found a better holster?

The Galco Ankle Glove is (in my opinion) a superior product to the DeSantis ankle holster. It seemed to be better constructed and it lasted a lot longer then my current DeSantis replacement is doing. I use it for my G-26. AS far as the Apache, I did not like it for my Glock, but it holds my Smith 642 nicely.

DM,

How's the retention on the Alessi? I've always been wary of an open-top ankle rig for duty wear.

The Desantis Die Hard ankle rig is basically the same as the Galco rig. I've gone through all of Desantis' ankle rigs (2 apaches, even when they had a Glock specific model that was all neoprene, then the "leather ankle holster" - a bit too bulky, especially for the glock, and 2 die hards) at one time or another for the G26 and now 27, and I like the Die Hard. I'm on my second Die Hard now, after wearing the first one out, and they've added an extension of the velcro strap that makes it easier to wear over boots.

Just stay away from the Fobus ankle rig.....let's just say you get what you pay for.

The Alessi G27 ankle is totally form fitted to the piece and will NOT move unless YOU move it. I've worn mine for years and believe me, it's NOT coming out.

Tell me how much you love it after you buy it! DM

Try Lightning Arms at the URL below. Craig and Audrey are GREAT folks to work with and the usually have stock in numerous high end holsters, like Alessi, Sparks, Del Fatti and others.

Thanks much everybody, I linked to all the holsters recommended and checked them out. The Alessi looks great, but a little more than I want to put out right now. I wore my partner's Apache for a 10 hour shift the other night and got into a short (2 block) foot chase. It held up well, with no shifting of the weapon. I ordered one this morning, hope it works out.
Thanks again.:)

You may also want to try Renegade out of Phoenix. I have used one of theirs for the past 9 years, and it has worked great.

The DeSantis worked pretty well, but the 239 was a little big and heavy for ankle carry. A weapon with a shorter grip would probably be a better match for the Apache.
