Well, I am currently an AGR (Active) with the Air National Guard. My unit just got federally activated today. I am currently in the process with NYSP and the academy starts Jan 7th. Goes without saying that I was a little upset to get activated so close to the academy date. Then I am told that I am deploying to god knows where with 12 other guys. Well Goodbye academy, right? Well, My commander (who is a NYS trooper) pulls me into her office and tells me she is taking me off the deployment list so that "this doesn't screw up my life, and my career as a state trooper, and that she got it authorized that I would be able to go to the academy even if we were still activated". Do you think she knows something that I don't? Either way, She is a cool Commander!
