Trooper Taylor was killed when his patrol vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer while on the shoulder of I-40 in Haywood County. He was parked on the shoulder along with two other vehicles when the incident occurred. An occupant of one of the other vehicles was also killed.
Trooper Taylor had been with the agency for 20 years and was survived by his mother and sister.
I knew the officer personally, worked alot of wrecks with him while I was a vol fireman. He was a hell of a trooper and a even better person.
