I just got off the phone with a USN recruiter. He stated that they have MA (Navy Police Officer) positions open and I would be eligible for a MA3 spot. He stated that I would lose my E-5 (prior active duty) rank due to my time since being separated and actual time as an E-5. He also stated that I could probably be waived from the MA training since I am already a LEO.
I have a couple questions-
-My ultimate goal is to obtain a direct commision after I finish my bachelors in about 1 1/2 yrs in a Navy Law Enforcement field through the Direct Commissioning Program. Is this a decent route to go for now?
-I know what the active duty MAs do, what are some of the responsibilities of a reserve MA? During weekend drills? Two weeks AD? or During deployments?
This is a move I've been pondering for a few years now. The MA rate was usually closed but is now finally open. I figure now is a better time than ever. Now, I just have to win support from my family and work!
Thanks for any responses.

Copdog,

Push for the 2nd class. You will be amazed as to what you can get right now. Also check the BUPERS web page.

Do what to be a URL or LDO?

The reserve unit I was in the LEO's trained the reserve MA and physical security personnel. And if there is a big event taking place on any local base the unit would help agument the AD personnel.

Hope this helps.
