I scored a 126 on the asvab which qualified me for the USMC officer's program and I just passed my physical today...The captain in charge of this office has a 99-100% selection rate so I am told I am pretty much good to go. All that remains is the physical fitness test and the selection board. My question is will the "background check" for this be a "background check" or will it be an "investigation?" I am told the results should be back by the first week of dec so it seems like they will not have much time to do an investigation. Also, a Background invesitigator with a PD i applied to told me he would not recommend me to be hired at this time. this is fine since I want to do the marine corp more anyway but I am concerned about whether or not this will come to light?? IS there any chance I can loose the chance to go to OCS b/c of this pd? There were not any questions on the OCS application that would lead them to this info but nevertheless I am still stressing....i really want this....

UW23TED.

It sounds like your going to be fine with the rest of the process, I'm not sure why you got DQ'd from the PD you applied to but that will not hurt you with the USMC. As long as you don't have anything in your background (dope, grand theft, nut case) you should be fine. The background they do for inlisted (speaking for myself and it was a WHILE ago) was the normal stuff like crim backfround check, school and local PD check. Feel free to contact the Capt that is working with you and ask him about the BI I'm sure he will be willing to help you out. Best of luck.

hey thanks for that info. I haven't been dq'd yet technically. I was just told that my BI would not recommend me for employment and the final decision was up to 2 sergeants. So I have heard they may just be trying to rattle me but I don t want the job. all I want is the USMC...thanks again

The background check is going to be limited and based mostly on where you've lived, worked and resided for the past 5 years or since your 16th birthday. They will check also in the states, counties and cities where you've admitted to any type of law violation, including minor traffic offenses. If you're not wanting to work for that PD, you should call and let them know it! There's no sense wasting they're time and yours on something you're not interested in.

Have a great day!
