Anyone have any issues with the Berretta 92FS police special not being very accurate right out-of-the-box new? Could it be a sights problem? Also had a couple of malfunctions during my first shoot with it. New cartridges didn't feed right and stove-piped twice. Any thoughts?
Don't know anything about you so don't take this personal, but could it be operator error? Try having someone who you know can shoot well give it a go. If they have a similar experience, I would start thinking problems with the gun. If not, back to the range.
Could be a junk batch of ammo.Pick up some quality ammo and head back to the range
Well... having utilized the 92FS in the service, I can say that this happened to me once or twice on the range. I never knew what to chalk it up to, though... I just knew I wasn't a big fan of the 92FS.
Your milage may vary...

I agree with the previous posts. Check the operator, then the ammo. Usually correcting one of those will solve your problem.
I never really was a huge fan of the 92FS. It just feels a little too "loose" for my tolerances.

The open top design of the 92 slide was supposed to help eliminate stovepipe type of jams. One thing to check is to make sure you are not "limp-wristing" the gun which can cause jams. Also try some good factory ball ammo and see how well it ejects with it. If the loads are underpowered, it can also cause stove-pipe jams as well.
As far as accuracy, the 92 series have usually been pretty accurate. I would not expect them to put 10 rounds into an inch at 50 yards, but at 15 yards, it should be delivering fist sized groups or smaller if you do your part.

Saw a article in a past issuse of Guns & Ammo about the 92FS. Using a 124 gr. round instead of a 115 gr. round solved the problem for the tester in the magazine who experienced what I described in the orignal post. As far as the accuracy issue goes, it's not a problem with my duty weapon...
Anywho, no harm, no foul. Thanks to all who responded. I am gonna have the sights checked out. I would always look to the operator first as well with any kind of weapon malfunction.
