My department is looking at testing a couple of these and I was wondering if there is anyone out here who would know where I would find information on center organizers. I have Google'd and cannot find much information, could be entering the wrong information to look for.

Also, if you have driven a Charger or Magnum and you liked/disliked the equipment, please let me know so I/we, can avoid making the same mistake.

If you have websites please PM me.

Thanks for any help!!!

I have been in a couple of the Dodge demo cars at different LE trade shows. Personally, I think they are awful, especially the magnum version. Who ever your department sends to evaluate the cars, ensure they wear their armor and their duty belt, it makes a huge difference in how you fit in the seats. I found getting in and out of the car difficult; the front seats had their rearward travel limited by the installation of the barrier, I'm 5'9", 195lbs, I'm not THAT big. The barrier also wiped out most of the foot-well for the rear seats; I hope you don't have to transport far. Side and rear visibility is really bad with the small side windows and low seats, the front seats are way too low. With the double barriers put in the Magnum you might as well have a panel van, you can only see out the front; that is it. The Charger trunk is small, especially when compared to the Ford PI with a full-size spare installed.

i'm issued one permanently. it's the 5.7 V8 model. i have about 2k on it and love it so far. i would spit nails if they tried to take it away. i have no problem with the seats (fyi they do seem a little narrower than the CVPI) or comfort. it does have blind spots in the rear, but it hasn't been much of an issue (doesn't every car?). the trunk is about 1/2 the size of the CVPI and comparable to the Chevy, but to get CVPI kind of room again, you'll need an SUV or SW. i'm able to fit everything i need in the trunk despite having @ 1/2 of it taken up by the radio (which they just dropped in there without a thought). as for the center console. it came with the stalk shifter lever and a bare center, we dropped some sort of equipment slide in there and everything fits well. plenty of room for the driver and passenger (this includes a computer and armrest btw). the only thing i'm worried about is giving the power of this V8 to a 21 yo kid who recently graduated. it's that fast.

My last department purchased two of them, and they currently purchased 4 more...

Give me a Crown Vic anyday.... Our Remington Shotguns could not be mounted inside the trunk lid because it was too small, and NONE of the cars had spare tires because there was no room in them.. Which instead of having 1 unit tied up, you have two, one with the flat and another officer having to go to the PD to pick up a tire.... I also don't care too much for the trunk mounted battery... Seems like a fire hazard to me, but I'm not expert.

You guys have spare tires in your squads?

Yes sir. It would be bad enough to have one unit down for 30min-Hour because of flat, and having to get a unit to retrieve the tire would put two units 10-7.

Besides, we've got more room in the trunk than we know what to do with..

If we get a flat, we call a tire truck and they come fix it. If the car breaks down, the city garage sends a wrecker and they haul it off to be fixed. Of course the wait time on either one of those events can be an hour or two and maybe more on a really busy day, but I guess it saves the city money somehow. I don't think even our old CVPIs have spares on them anywhere.

We have spares at the PD but also in a pinch (say its busy as hell) we can call and the tow company (who will change the tire anyways) will grab the tire from the PD and bring it out to the squad. (usualy 10-20 mins). Interior wise does the charger feel cramped like the impalas?

Thanks for the information guys.
:)

In our CVPIs, we do not have spares and need to go to the department to get one (had to do it last week for another guy :star: ).

We are also getting a new MVR system that runs everything through the computer, so that is going to open the trunk up alot. Currently the trunk deck has a roll out on it with our Toughbook, modems, MVR and more.

I hope the new cars and systems we have work better than what we have now.

Again, thanks for the information.... and PLEASE keep posting information.
