Looks like the 2007 Police Package Tahoe will solve many of the performance/storage issues associated with cop cars. Lower CG, 2wd, did as well or better than the Crown Vic at the annual MSP tests...but the thing can haul some gear. And the top speed is in the low 140s (I hit that 2, 3 times per day).
Anyone seen any out there yet? I am specifically talking the police package version, not the 4wd "Special Service" version.

I checked this ride out at TREXPO, too bad we couldn't take it for spins. I was very impressed. Great visibility, lots of room, hose-it-out interior. I can't speak for the power but it has a lot more going for it in terms of packaging than anything Daimler-Chrysler can come-up with outside the Durango. Personally I want the Crown Vic P71 that Car and Driver tested a few years ago with the Triton V-10 in it because I don't have to buy the gas!

We have gotten several of them just recently for our Troopers who will be doing commercial vehicle work. Also, our canine units will be getting them in the near future. It'll be interesting to see how they do.

My "unit" is the 2006 Tahe Police Package (actually designated by Chevy as the "PPV" - Police Pursuit Vehicle package). I can tell you from day-to-day experience that it rocks. I absolutely love it. It runs like a scalded rabbit and has great visibility and interior room. I will NEVER go back to a Crown Vic if I can avoid it.

I think I am getting one - or so says my boss. I was worried about the lack of 4wd because there is a bit of snow where I live, but I drive fast with lots of gear more than I need 4wd, and with Blizzaks, it should not be an issue.
Thanks for the input.
We just got a couple new 2007 Tahoe's for our team. Our only gripe is that they are much lower to the ground (less ground clearence) than the older models made in the last couple of years. We are going to have to lift them a few inches, particularly in the front, to even get around in many of the areas we patrol.
:D But they sure are perrty!

My GOV is a 2007 LS. Not a police version or patrol unit (unmarked w/ covert tags) but it still goes like a raped ape. I had a 2005 previously. I don't much like the new styling; but it has tons of room, a much better ride, and a stereo system that will blow you away (even an aux. input for the ole' iPod). My emergency equipment seems to be much less noticable in this version as well. Can't say enough good things about it really, although if you are trying to sit on someone's house in "da' hood" it is kind of conspicous.
