what does a black dot on the envelope mean?

I haven't been able to figure out the black dot either. Seems like whenever I post in a thread the black dot then comes up. At first I thought it meant a Moderator had made a post in that thread, but that's not it???

After I posted a thread, on the envelope on the left, there was a black dot on it.

Yep, that’s what it has to be. The dot indicates the Threads that you have made a post in. It's tied to your username. If I log out and then look at the threads all the dots go away. ToppDog gets the cigar on this one.
