I have received a conditional offer of employment with the Leesburg PD and I am set to take a pysc test next saturday.
Does anyone else have any idea what it entails and what the Northern VA police acadamey is like? Or anyone around here that knows much about the Leesburg PD?
Don't know much about the PD, but I know a little about the area. It's rapidly growing from suburban sprawl and the buildup in that area has already begun. Fairfax, VA saw this kind of growth years ago, and look where they are at now...the richest county in the nation...and check out that PD. So I'd say you're looking at a pretty good department that has a opportunity to become a very progressive agency with lots of opportunities.
I graduated from the 99th session of the NVCJA. It was a good academy, not very hard. The PT was daily but, not that challenging if you're in shape. It was a mix of running lifting weights, some sit ups, push ups normal stuff. I was in the last class to go through the 14 week abbreviated deputy sheriff school.. Same PT, Driving, shooting as police , but we lacked the law classes, DWI, asp, training, and other police training. Contact me if you have other questions..bandre@nlectc.org

squared away did you get the job w/ leesburg? how do you like it so far...I am interested in finding out further information on the agency.
I graduated from the NVCJA about 5 years ago. The academy and training are very good. Concentration is more on academics then discipline. I went through the shorter version, I have heard that it is now 22 weeks. Nothing to break a sweat about.
NLECTC is refering to the deputy course. They instruct deputy and law enforcement sessions at the same time. Deputy school is for mostly corrections, court house type training. Law enforcement is the "Police" training (patrol, investigations, traffic, etc...) I can't really answer what content the deputy course offers. If you were hired by Leesburg you will have the Law Enforcement course.
Just think, weekends and holidays off for 22 weeks!!
