According to a firearms instructor CBP as made changes to the firearms policy. An example he gave was the fact that now there is a 2 page listing of the off duty carry holsters that are now approve by CBP. Among the types, include shoulder holster, ankle, and numerous waist belt carry models. Has anyone heard any other changes taking place?
Have not heard anything like that. I did hear we will have to wear our vest when we qualify though...
Go to the CBP INTRANET, click on OT then Use of Force Policy Division, then Authorized Equipment Lists, then Equipment Carry Program (ECP), then off duty carry. The list is endless , no word from our local FI if this has been approved.

Tried the directions, no dice. Any other thoughts?
Hey Rasp:
Kind of hard to find in the intranet section, but I've seen the list and it is rather lengthy. Good for us; many choices over what we had before. Applicable to all components of CBP who carry a weapon: OFO/AMO/BP. Other news: Look for OFO to return to a quarterly qual, OFO to return to 25 yard line, practice ammo still iffy, all of CBP might return to previous INS qual target (TQ-15 ?). CAT 1 target going bye-bye.

Doing your qual in a vest is a great idea.. however, its probably not looked upon as a positive thing for training ... rather a way to make sure the vests have not been sold on Ebay ...:fpost:

The yearly inventory is used to make sure you didn't send your vest to your buddy in Iraq or sell it on ebay. Wearing your vest for Quals is due to an incident that occurred in which thank god no one was hurt or killed but definitely could have been. A mandatory refresher course on the proper handling of your weapon would probably be more useful because unfortunately there are more than a few officers who pull the trigger only a few times a year and never on their own time.
