I have been a Mass Resident and dreaming of being a state trooper wearing the french and electric blue, which is not easy by a long run, but now in stead of having a new test. There going to hire off a old list from 1998 don't get me started. The state police in mass have a very high standerd. You must have a 90 or higher. It's all about the test. What the !@##!!!! are they taking people in the low 80's for. If you did'nt want them before why take them now. I live next too a trooper and he feels jane swift is making a big mistake. I think swift is acting out of emotions and not what the commonwealth really needs, and thats the way I feel, and I will not change my feelings about it. How can you have a standerd for hiring the best and the first in the nation, and take people who have scored in the low 80's. I spoke to a trooper last night, and he stated he would not won't to be in the RTT class thats going to be hired next year because they will be known as the troopers who were hired out of desperration. Not because they scored high on there exam. Am I sounding jealous or are there others out there who feel the same? With all the law enforcement at logan airport now, they could have had another test, and made sure the commonwealth had the top troopers who scored high on the exam. Well I guess I am mad, sorry.

like specialK say tried something in the meantime, cause it might take years of waiting, a friend of mine got sick of waiting a yr and then he went to get a job with the sheriffs department, 5 years later he got in the state police academy, thanx for the job reference as a deputy sheriffs. it didn't want to startr over but it was his long life dream so he went to state police and started the academy. or you can try other stuff like local police, fire, emt, or corrections, that's what i am doing right now i work in the Mass State Prison

I would not put all my eggs in the MSP basket. The odds are long. It is a great job, bit still has the problems of all cop jobs. They have traditional military style uniforms, and take home cars, but there is bull crap like all of them.

I have had the luck to be a town cop, for two different towns, and they both have problems. Different problem,s, but they are there.

If you really want to be a tropper and have a take home car, go to FL...they are hurting. otherwise, find a career here, excel at it, and keep pushing towards your goal. But if the troopers don't workout, make sure you have a career to be in.

You don't want to be a 30something year old who has been mooning over being a trooper, and then all of the sudden you need a career.

Update-
The MSP have just sent out packets to at least the 87's.
I don't know how far down they plan to go but it looks promising for a lot of people.
I am going for it, if I don't make it and wash out at least I tried, and I'll always be thankful for that.
Time to whip this fatbody into shape.
