View Full Version : CHP academy bound!!!
I just found out that i'm all done with the whole process with the California Highway Patrol and that I will be going in with the March 2002 class. Its a great feeling to finally hear these words. I would like to thank all those who have responded to my posts. This site really helped me out and if there is anyway i can help those who are still in it, feel free to ask. Once again thank you all...Robert

Congratulations Robert! CHP is a great agency and you should be very proud of your accomplishment so far. Make sure you do some physical exercise in preparation for the academy since you have some time.
Glad this board helped you and keep us informed of how you're doing in the academy. Best of luck with your new career and take care!!!
Sweet! Congrats on the job... CHP has an outstanding reputation and some of the best training in the country!
***insert jealousy here*** (I was not selected in '99)
Have a great time, and keep posting..as time permits of course!
Also, remember that you can use "discretion"when pulling over a city-cop. LOL

Start training now. When you can run five 7.5 minute miles, stopping only to do 50 pushups, you'll be ready for the academy. Be prepared to be able to do pushups, situps, deep knee bends, jumping jacks for twenty minutes without stopping. And then go run three to five.
congratulations and good luck!

Congrats! I am a cadet right now in my 8th week. You will be getting here just when I graduate but if you have any specific questions let me know. And like everyone has told you in previous posts, keep running and working out because the PT is no joke. Well good luck and stay safe!

Just got my Application packet in the mail today for CHP. I plan on doing the consolidated testing process in April since I am active duty Army. If you can square me away on advice/info on what to expect I would greatly appreciate it. I get out Jan 2004. Good luck and Congrats!! Ski "OUT"

I also just started the process of applying to the CHP. Any advice on preparing for the written test, physical ability test and oral board would be appreciated.
Thanks!
First off...good luck, that is one of the best LE org's out there.. The written is pretty predictable, but get ready for an essay test afterwards. The PAT is just like the Info. packet says, and the Oral is structured (mine had a SGT. and a civil-service employee..) about 20 minutes.
I took mine in '99 so things may have changed but at least it is a start.
Keep us posted and good luck!

USMCCAPT or ROB78,
How long after you got the results from the QAP did you receive a commit to hire?
I believe it was about 3-4 weeks later. I turned it in with my personal history statement which was at the begining of my backgroud check.
