View Full Version : Flat Badge Wallet insert?

As a female, I don't like the typical wallets being sold for flat badges.
Ideally, I would prefer to purchase my own wallet and insert my badge into one of the credit slots via an attachment of some kind...does this make sense?
Can anyone help or offer suggestions?
Thank you

I can picture what I think you are talking about but don't recall ever seeing something like that. If you can find a good custom leather shop or maybe even a shoe repair place with the right equipment, you might be able to get someone to make what you have in mind.
Not sure what you have looked at so far but there are numerous options out there, including probably some custom-made options if you are willing to spend the money. Aside from typical badge wallets, some companies like Strong make designs specifically for females. Two examples can be found here (http://www.strongbadgecase.com/store/st7/tp8/products/product_detail.jsp?id=10009&unique=1183329588435&sid=2F859B03896C1964EBA52825B92507703D78A2C6)and here (http://www.strongbadgecase.com/store/st7/tp8/products/product_detail.jsp?id=54392&unique=1183329330779&sid=2F859B03896C1964EBA52825B92507703D78A2C6).
Of course a lot of officers, male and female, get around this by carrying both a wallet and a separate credential case.

.. which is what I'd recommend, if only for officer safety.

Ditto. I have always carried a separate wallet.

Excellent justification for separating your work ID from personal.
My agency goes so far as to taking disciplinary action against persons who do not use the agency issued badge/cred case. They also prohibit using it to hold any other ID or credit cards.

Only problem I'd have with that is my agency-issued cred case was roughly the size of a hotel Bible...

Mine too! My agency-issued cred case has our badge on a removable belt clip, making it about 1.5 inches thick. The funny part is we don't wear our badges on our belts... ever. So giving us that extra thickness is pretty useless.
I contacted Strong Leather and got the GSA pricing for a "dress" credential case. It was significantly less than the retail price, and the thickness of the cred case was significantly reduced as well. My badge/credentials now actually fit in my rear pocket without protruding too much.

My cred case is not overly large and pretty thin as all I keep in it are a couple of my business cards, a gov't phone card, and two govt credit cards. Some agents in my office have creds cases that look like George Constanza's wallet (about 4 inches thick).

I wear my badge on a chain under my shirt. It's hidden until I need to be identified. It's quick to get to and is plainly visible. Plus, you can go hands free and focus on your weapon, cuffing, radio, etc instead of holding your badge up with one hand yelling, "stop in the name of the law!"

Echo what's been said above. My creds are in a simple cred case (no badge) with my shield on my belt. My wallet with driver's license and credit cards and such is seperate.
