Anyone heard of this?

Hey guys,

I ran across this the other day. Has anyone heard of the S&Wm4003, supposedly its made exclusively for the Houston Police Dept.?

The S&W 4003 is the aluminum frame version of the 4006, which is a stainless steel framed .40 S&W. It was a standard catalog item for S&W. I carried a 4043 and 4046 which are the double action variants, and they were good reliable weapons.

As far as HPD specific 4003 guns, HPD may have required that their officers carry ones that were decock only, as that was a feature that several departments required when they did not want a manual safety. Other than that I am not aware of any special HPD 4003 guns.

S&W will do custom guns for a PD if they order a good amount (500+?) including laser etching and whatnot... not sure exactly what you're asking...

According to my info HPD officers purchase their own guns so I doubt its specific to them.
