View Full Version : CRKT Knives
Well I just went out and bought yet another knife. A CRKT M21-04. I've usually gone with either benchmade, cold steel or spiderco, but I couldn't resist this latest one. Paid just under 50.00 dollars for it. It was on sale. But it seems really nice. Just thought I would pass this on. For the price and quality, I think I just replaced my benchmade for daily carry.
I also have purchased benchmade knives in the past, and while they are very high quality they are expensive. I also have recently purchased a columbia river creek knive and couldnt be happier with it, not to mention it was about 100 dollars cheaper

CRKT knives are good knives. I've had one for 10 years now. Their customer service has been great and they have replaced the knife twice at no cost.
My only real complaint is that their blades do not hold an edge long.
I was looking to buy a CRKT or a Benchmade knife after graduation based on how well they held up in Afghanistan and their craftsmanship; most guys got them issued to them. But my DT instructor gave my class some good advice when someone asked which knife he would recommend. He basically said buy a knife which you would not be very upset if you lost it, his cost about 15 dollars. I ended up buying a 15 dollar Smith and Wesson.
On a note of great customer service, I have had a Leatherman multitool since about 1992. It has been everywhere with me and replaced free of charge three times.

I have to tell you that, as an Instructor, I have never bought off on that logic. A knife, much like a firearm, is a tool that you may have to depend upon to save your life. On some things I think you can skimp and save a few bucks. I don't think that is the case with a knife. Would you purchase a Raven Arms or Jennings Auto pistol to carry as your duty weapon? Would you buy a non-brand, cut rate body armor to wear? I like CRKT knives and own several. They are well made and craftmanship is good. The heavy duty models are very solid. However, on duty, they are always a secondary knife for me. I carry a Benchmade, Emerson, Strider, or MOD as my "primary" knife. Be careful where you try to save a few bucks. Just my humble opinion.

By the way, no offense intended towards Krellum. He does carry a Raven .25 as a duty weapon and wraps himself in multiple layers of tinfoil as "body armor". :D

Wait a minute, isn’t that what we tell people who think we are listening to their thoughts or planted listening devices in their brain. I did not realize it had multiple uses.

No no no--that's a tin foil HELMET. Totally different from the ever increasingly popular body armor configuration, although the two CAN be worn together....

I caution against wearing both together as I have done this once and started recieving 1010 WINS news radio on my left molar. This caused many Pax to think I was talking to them because Yankee's scores and traffic reports keep spilling out of my mouth. :D
