Thoughts and prayers are with Officer Jason Tormasi's wife, 3 children, and the entire Columbus Division of Police. He died last night in a car crash on his way to work. Very sad and tragic!!!!! I couldn't get the link to work so here is the story from www.10tv.com

DELAWARE, Ohio - Investigators were working to determine why a Columbus police officer's car went off a Delaware County road and into a creek on Monday night, killing him.

Officer Jason Tormasi (pictured, right) was on his way to work at Precinct 12, on the city's east side at about 10:30 p.m., when police said he lost control of his vehicle along U.S. Route 42, crashed through a guardrail and rolled down an embankment.

Fellow officers knew something was wrong when Tormasi, 32, failed to show up at the beginning of his 11 p.m. shift, 10TV's Patrick Bell reported.

A call for help was broadcast across central Ohio police radios. Cruisers and police helicopters raced to the area near Tormasi's home, near Delaware.

Shortly before 1 a.m., rescue crews spotted a badly bent guardrail with paint flakes matching Tormasi's personal vehicle, Bell reported.

Columbus officers jumped into about 4 to 5 feet of water, pried open the doors and attempted to save Tormasi but it was too late.
Police said that Tormasi was transported to a hospital but could not be revived.

Flags at Precinct 12 were flying at half-staff by Monday morning, Bell reported.

Investigators were searching for a cause of the crash.
