A motorcycle accident claimed the life of a Clovis man Friday near Conchas Dam, according to the New Mexico State Police.
William “Bill” Blankenship Jr., 52, of Clovis, was thrown from his Harley-Davidson motorcyle on State Road 104, at about mile post No. 60 after losing control on a curve, according to Lt. Rick Anglada, a spokesperson for the state police.
Blankenship died on the scene, with his death pronounced at about 11:40 a.m. He was wearing a helmet, Anglada said.
Anglada said Blankenship was a former Clovis firefighter and the father of a current state police officer, Jason Blankenship.
