Does anyone know off hand what type of firearm is used by the NJSP? I believe it is a S&W, just not sure of the model. Thanks!

Not offhand, but research indicates 9mm Sig Sauer P228. Detectives get a Walther.

Hey thanks for the info. I saw the same thing. But I thought they switched to a S&W model a few years ago. I guess I was wrong. Again thanks.

The NJSP carried H&K P7M8's from 1983 until 2001. They originally selected the SW99 to transition to, but the high failure rate of the weapon during the transition course caused them to select a new weapon, hence the SIG P228. Just as an aside, the SW99 and Walther P99 are essentially the same weapon, just with different names on the slides. All of the frames are made by Walther.
